The Planning Department is the central source and first stop for all land use activities in Hillsborough. Our purpose is to encourage and support orderly and sustainable economic development within the town’s unique environment and in accordance with the Master Plan and Land Use Regulations
Developments that involve new construction, a change of use, external impacts or the creation of new lots, are subject to the Site Plan or Subdivision review process. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact this office for a preliminary review of the proposed application to allow for appropriate guidance. The application will be reviewed for completeness and any deficiencies prior to the Planning Board’s review.
This office is also where those who are interested in serving on a land use board or would like to learn about any proposed or ongoing projects can reach out.
Planning Director Robyn Payson is available Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am-4:00 pm and Friday by appointment. Currently there are no in person meetings of the Planning Board or the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Meetings and Public Hearings are held on the on line GoToMeeting platform. Meeting access information including the link are located on the agenda of the upcoming meeting.
