Zoning Board of Adjustment
The Zoning Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body which hears and decides four types of zoning adjustment applications. The four types include Variances, Special Execeptions, Appeals from Administrative Decisions, and Equitable Waivers of Dimensional Requirements. New Hampshire's planning enabling legislation, Revised Statutes Annoted (RSA) 672-677, and the local zoning ordinance and map provide the legal basis for the Board of Adjustment's work.
The ZBA is a five-member board with up to five alternate members. The ZBA members serve three-year terms and are elected by the local legislative body of the Town. One member of the Planning Board may sit on the Zoning Board as provided by RSA 673:5 II.
Applications are submitted to the Planning Director who will review the application for completeness and schedule the public hearing.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) meets on the second Monday of the month as needed at 7:00 pm at the Hillsborough Town Office (27 School St.).
